World Blood Donor Day: Every year, on 14 June, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood and to raise awareness of the need for regular blood donations to ensure the quality, safety and availability of blood and blood products for patients in need. The theme for World Blood Donor Day 2019 was “Safe blood for all”. The theme was a call for action to all the governments, healthcare institutions and blood banks across the globe to meet the adequate demand of blood for all the patients who require blood transfusion. On 14th June (Friday) the Department of Transfusion Medicine & Blood Bank, AIIMS, Raipur celebrated the World Blood Donor Day and organized a blood donation camp. Many faculty members and employees from various departments like MSW Unit, MS Office, Administrative office, Nursing college, Aayushman Bharat Unitand MBBS & Nursing students actively participated in this Voluntary blood donation camp. Total 49 donors successfully donated blood in the blood donation camp. All the voluntary blood donors were awarded with Certificate of Appreciation.
