Raipur, under the leadership of Organizing Chairperson Dr. Jessy Abraham, In-charge, Department of Genetics, and Organizing Secretary Dr. Vinita Singh, In-charge, Fetal Medicine Unit, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The conference was inaugurated by Shri Devendra Pratap Singh, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Member of the Institute Body, AIIMS Raipur along with Shri Saurabh Jain. Both appreciated the efforts of AIIMS Raipur in providing advanced, affordable genetic care to the people of Chhattisgarh and beyond Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Shri Devendra Pratap Singh commended the institution’s commitment to delivering advanced, affordable genetic care to underserved populations. He also assured continued support in terms of funding, equipment, and policies to strengthen the institute’s services.Shri Saurabh Jain, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, appreciated the timely focus on genetics, calling it the future of advanced medicine. Lt. Gen. Ashok Jindal, Executive Director & CEO of AIIMS Raipur, lauded the participation of over 100 delegates from across India and pledged to further strengthen AIIMS Raipur’s genetic infrastructure. Ltd. • Dr. Anu Singh, Associate Professor, Pathology, IMS-BHU The Fetal Medicine Unit at AIIMS Raipur became functional just two years ago and has already made a significant impact. Over 2,000 pregnant women with suspected fetal anomalies have been screened and counseled. Those found at high risk have been offered confirmatory diagnostic tests, including amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling, completely free of cost. In the past year alone, the unit has successfully performed over 100 invasive prenatal procedures, helping families make informed decisions. Today, this unit stands as a state-level referral center, offering hope to patients not only from Chhattisgarh but also from Odisha, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.
