The College of Nursing AIIMS Raipur, in collaboration with the National Resource Centre for EHR Standards (NRCeS) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), successfully organized an Online Workshop on “Clinical Documentation Using Electronic Health Records (EHR)” on 13 March 2026 (Friday) from 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM through the Microsoft Teams virtual platform. The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge and understanding of nursing faculty members, students, and healthcare professionals regarding clinical documentation using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and to introduce participants to standardized clinical terminologies used in digital healthcare systems. The program was designed to strengthen the competencies of healthcare professionals in maintaining accurate, standardized, and efficient digital clinical records. The program commenced with online registration of participants from 10:00 AM to 10:10 AM. The workshop formally began with a Welcome Address by Mr. Jayavel M., Nursing Tutor, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, resource persons, and participants. In his address, he highlighted the importance of digital documentation in improving healthcare delivery and maintaining standardized patient records. This was followed by the Inaugural Address delivered by Dr. Binu Mathew, Professor-cum-Principal, College of Nursing, AIIMS Raipur, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. She emphasized the growing importance of Electronic Health Records in modern healthcare systems and highlighted the role of nurses in ensuring accurate, systematic, and standardized clinical documentation. Technical Sessions The academic sessions of the workshop included two informative presentations by subject experts. Session I was delivered by Ms. Jaya Sonavane on the topic “Introduction to Clinical Terminology Standards – SNOMED and ICD.” The session provided an overview of the importance of standardized clinical terminologies in electronic health documentation. The speaker explained the application and significance of systems such as SNOMED CT and the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), which play a crucial role in ensuring uniformity, interoperability, and accuracy in health data across healthcare institutions. Session II was conducted by Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, who delivered an insightful lecture on “Preparation of Nursing Care Plan Using Clinical Terminology Standards.” The session focused on the practical aspects of preparing structured nursing care plans using standardized terminologies within Electronic Health Record systems. The speaker highlighted how integrating clinical terminology standards into nursing documentation can improve the quality of patient care and facilitate efficient health information management. The workshop witnessed active participation of more than 368 participants, including nursing faculty members, nursing students, and healthcare professionals from different institutions across India, who attended the program through both online and offline modes. The enthusiastic participation reflected the increasing interest among healthcare professionals in adopting digital health technologies and strengthening competencies in clinical documentation. Following the sessions, participant feedback was collected, and the responses indicated that the workshop was highly informative and beneficial. Participants appreciated the clarity of the sessions and the practical insights provided regarding the implementation of standardized clinical documentation in healthcare settings. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Ritika Rocque, Nursing Tutor and Organizing Secretary, who expressed sincere gratitude to the speakers, dignitaries, organizing committee members, and participants for their valuable contributions and active participation that ensured the success of the workshop. Feedback from Participants Participant feedback was collected through an online feedback form following the completion of the workshop. The responses were compiled and analyzed to assess participant satisfaction and the effectiveness of the program. The feedback revealed a high level of satisfaction among the participants. Most participants reported that the workshop was informative, relevant, and beneficial for understanding clinical documentation using Electronic Health Records. Participants appreciated the clarity of the presentations, the expertise of the resource persons, and the practical insights provided regarding standardized clinical terminologies and their application in nursing care documentation. Many participants also highlighted that the workshop enhanced their understanding of standardized documentation systems and their importance in modern healthcare practice. Several participants suggested organizing more advanced and hands-on training sessions on Electronic Health Records and digital health systems in the future. Overall, the feedback indicated that the workshop successfully achieved its objective of enhancing awareness and knowledge regarding standardized clinical documentation and digital health systems among nursing professionals and students. The organizing committee also expresses heartfelt gratitude to the Lt. Gen. Dr Ashok Jindal, Director, AIIMS Raipur, and the Prof Dr. Eli Mohapatra Dean (Academics), AIIMS Raipur, for their encouragement and institutional support in conducting this workshop.
